Location : Adjacent to Devil's Gate, the Mormon Handcart Visitors' Center is 33 miles southwest of Alcova.
Handcart Treks : Individual, family, and group tours of the visitors' center and handcart treks are available without charge.
Overnight Camping : Overnight camping may also be scheduled without charge.

Between 1856 and 1860 many early Mormon pioneers traveled through here by means of handcarts. Although most early pioneers traveled west using a covered wagon and team of oxen, there were many who couldn't afford such travel accommodations. The less expensive handcart, much like a large shallow wheelbarrow, allowed the poorer pioneers to afford the journey west. Because travel was more difficult with a handcart, it became a familiar symbol of dedication and duty to God.

Billings Montana Temple
This full-size Latter-Day Saint temple features a very tall modern single-spire design topped by a statue of Angel Moroni. The temple grounds are landscaped with lawns, flower gardens and more than 250 trees and 4,500 shrubs. Prominent, 300-foot-high Rimrock cliffs that border the rear side of the temple property. 66th operating temple of the LDS church serving members living in Montana and Northern Wyoming.

Idaho Falls Temple

Located just above the cascading waterfalls of the Snake River, this gleaming white temple stands as the centerpiece of Idaho Falls. Facilities include a public visitors center and beautiful garden.

The Idaho Falls Temple is the 8th oldest operating Mormon Temple and was the first designed with a central spire. This design was driven by architect John Fetzer who had a vision of an ancient Nephite temple. The temple exterior was completed in 1941 but the completion of the interior was delayed for four years by the onset of the Second World War.

Originally, this building served as the Uintah Stake Tabernacle for Latter-day Saints in eastern Utah. The building was built with considerable donated labor from the fall of 1899 until it was dedicated on August 24, 1907 by LDS Church President Joseph F. Smith. Temple district include Eastern Utah and Northwestern Colorado.
