With hundres of hidden bays and secret coves, this chain of sixty islands has attracted seafarers for centuries. First discovered and named by Columbus, who was later followed by buccaneers, pirates and adventurers.

The British Virgin Islands now invites today's more sophisticated travelers to sail into its several marinas and harbours or spend time as a forgotten castaway on one of its many smaller cays.

The largest and most visited islands are Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Jost van Dyke, Anegada and Peter Island. There are some 17,000 residents of this British colony and the capital city is Road Town.

The many attractions include over 200 shipwrecks to explore. The Sir Francis Drake Channel that runs most of the 35 mile length of this island chain is a favorite spot for boaters and divers. Scenic spots include deserted beaches and shady mountain hiking trails.
