Moab is located along the Colorado River. Enjoys mild weather because of its lower elevation. In earlier times it was a frequent stop for Butch Cassidy's Wild Bunch and other outlaw gangs and is the setting for many Zane Grey western novels. In the 1950's it became a booming mining town with the nearby discovery of uranium.

Today, Moab is a popular tourism destination because of its close proximity to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. Many tour operators originate from here.

Location : From Moab, take US-191 north nine miles then SR-313 southwest about 18 miles.
5,200 acres preserve with fantastic overlook of the Canyonlands. In early days a band of wild mustangs was herded here into a natural coral and inadvertantly left to die in view of the river water. Picniking, camping and hiking trails.

Hole in the Rock
5,000 sq.ft. home excavated from solid sandstone by Albert and Gladys Christensen. Started in the 1940's, it took some twenty years to complete.

Matheson Wetlands Preserve
900-acre preserve in Moab on the banks of the Colorado River is frequented by over 200 bird species and other wildlife such as beavers, otters and amphibians. Includes mile-long nature trail boardwalk.

Butch Cassidy's Kingworld Waterpark
