Red Cliffs Recreation Area

Very scenic campground near Leeds, UT (Exit 22 on I-15). Located
on the edge of the Dixie National Forest and Pine Valley Wilderness
Area. Adjacent to two silver mining ghost towns: Harrisburg and
Silver Reef. Popular area for camping, hiking and rockhounding.
Sand Hollow State Park

One of the newest state parks of Utah and facilities are under construction,
but visitors may still enjoy boating, off-highway vehicle riding, day-use, and primitive camping.

Tuacahn Amphitheatre and Center for the Arts

2,000 seat outdoor amphitheatre presents original Broadway
productions during the summer months. Located amongst the
tall red-sandstone cliffs of Tuacahn - Canyon of the Gods.
Festival of Lights during holidays. Also watch for special outdoor
pageants, pre-show western-style dinners, backstage tours and fireworks.
Pine Valley
The quiet scenic mountain town of Pine Valley is
located about 25 miles north of St. George at altitude of about 7,000 feet
(compared to only 2,500 for St. George). A very scenic drive that
takes you past red and white sandstone cliffs, two-extinct black
lava cinder cones. In the town you will see one of the oldest Mormon
chapels (built 1868) still in continuous use. This two-story white-frame
building is of the most picturesque in Utah.
Follow Utah SR-18 north to the town of Central and then turn right.
Mountain Meadows Massacre Site
Located alongside Utah SR-18 about 28 miles north of St. George.
This monument marks one of the darkest chapters in Southern Utah
history when Mormon militia and Indian allies ambushed a wagontrain
of about 120 Missouri immigrants bound for California in 1857. It
happened at the start of Johnston's war and about 15 years after the
Mormons had gone through intense religious persecution in Missouri.
