John Wesley Powell Museum

This museum takes visitors back to the formation of the Green River and the days of the Wild West. Southern Utah was one of the wildest areas in the United States. The museum gives a glimpse into one of the last unexplored areas of the West.

Crystal Geyser
Location : The trail leaves Highway 191 some distance north of Moab.
The cold water, carbon dioxide powered Crystal Geyser mellows many hours between eruptions but is an impressive site. The exposed sandstone cliffs in the Rainbow Rocks area are especially colorful. Unless you have a long time to wait you may not witness an eruption of Crystal Geyser.

San Rafael Swell - Wilderness Area
About 900 square miles of desert, domes, steep hogback ridges, and canyons that are almost entirely within Emery County. This mostly uninhabited country is scenic and natural that the Swell has been proposed repeatedly as a national park.

Green River State Park

An oasis on the bank of the Green River where tall cottonwood trees shade well-manicured lawns. Also includes 9-hole golf course on the river banks, shaded by the cottonwood trees.

Goblin Valley State Park
P.O. Box 637, Green River, Utah 84525-0637; (435) 564-3633 Park Link; Hike among intricately eroded rock formations in haunting coves and you might think that you are on Mars. This park was the backdrop for the move Galaxy Quest. Adjacent to the park, off-highway vehicle enthusiasts will find hundreds of miles of dirt roads to explore.

The Green River
A popular adventure idea is to launch on five-day river trip down from Dinosaur National Monument down the Green River to the town of the same name. Along the way you'll see many amazing sites as you traverse some of the most remote wilderness in America.

• Ancient Petroglyphs - ancient rock paintings of the Fremont Indians dating over 1000- years old.
• Florence Creek Ranch -
• Desolation Canyon - deeper than the Grand Canyon but with big sandy beaches and sparkling side streams.
• Outlaw hideouts - over a century ago, Butch Cassidy and his gang of bank robbers hid in this area.
• Water rapids - numerous white-water rapids.
