Huntsville was founded in 1860 by Jefferson Hunt. An LDS ward was organized there in 1877 with Francis Hammond as Bishop, and he was succeeded in 1885 by David McKay. This David McKay was the father of David O. McKay, later president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A Trappist monastery, the Abbey of Our Lady of the Holy Trinity, was established there in 1947. Popular local attractions include nearby ski resorts, Ogden Canyon scenic tour, David McKay home and pioneer homesteads.

    Ogden Utah Temple

One of only four temples in the Mormon Church to feature six ordinance rooms. This temple is currently going through a major renovation of the exterior building shell and surrounding temple grounds scheduled to be completed in 2014.

This temple is the centerpiece of downtown Ogden. Visitors may also see the nearby historic Ogden Tabernacle and Pioneer Museum. The temple grounds are beautified by large water features, mature trees, and colorful landscaping.
