Delta offers a welcome oasis for travelers before and after the long journey across
what has become known as the "Loneliest Highway in the USA."
Delta, Utah is considered the Gateway to the Great Basin

The Great Basin Museum in town houses
exhibits of pioneer farm equipment, mining tools, and home artifacts.
A special exhibit of the nearby Topaz Japanese
Internment Camp for World War II is especially interesting.
Many local events throughout the year attract travelers to
the area. The annual Snow Goose Festival celebrates the arrival of thousand Snow Geese on their northern migration route.
The festival is held the first weekend of March and is a wonderful opportunity to view beautiful white birds.
Rockhounders: Persons interested in rocks and minerals shouldn't leave the Delta area without trying to find some of the
local treasures. Rockhounders and geologists from around the world come to study and search for topaz, agate, obsidian,
garnets, trilobites and red beryl.

Great Basin Heritage Museum

This museum features exhibits about West Millard County history including artifacts of early settlers, and an excellent archive of photographs, writings and documents about the area.
The camp held more than 8,300 internees at one point, mostly from the San Francisco Bay area from 1942-1946. An original building from the campsite is exhibited at the museum.
Little Sahara Recreation Area
10 miles west of Jericho Jct; (435) 433-5960; BLM Link;
Designated and managed off-highway vehicle (OHV) open area. It features 60,000 acres of sand dunes, trails, and sagebrush flats.
The main attraction is a system of giant, free-moving sand dunes that creates a constantly changing playground for dirt-bikes,
all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), and sand rails (steel-tubed enclosed sand vehicles).
Sand Mountain, a wall of sand climbing nearly 700 feet, is the primary focal point for hill climbing.

Fort Deseret
