SR-44 High Unitas Scenic Byway
The Flaming Gorge-High Unitas Scenic Byway (SR-44 / US-191) crosses the Ashley National
Forest between Vernal and Manila on the Wyoming Border. It includes a
unique corridor of wildlife discovery is the majestic peaks of the Uinta Mountains;
forests of aspen, ponderosa, pinyon/juniper and lodgepole pine; sandstone towers and cathedrals;
giant red-rock formations; cottonwood and willow lined mountain streams; and the blazing red cliffs called Flaming Gorge.

it is among the nation's most outstanding wilderness areas.
The core 55 miles of this wrinkled ridgeline rarely drops below 11,000 feet, with at least
a dozen major summits soaring to over 13,000 feet (including Kings Peak, Utah's highest point at 13,528 feet.).
