    High Uintas Wilderness
    High wilderness country that includes 276,157 acres of the Ashley National Forest and 180,530 acres of the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Elevations range from 6,000 feet to over 13,500 feet.

    Lone Peak Wilderness Area
    31,165 acres (20,829 acres on the Uinta NF, 10,336 acres on the Wasatch-Cache NF). This area contains very rugged terrain with narrow canyons and high peaks, including the Little Matterhorn at 11,326 feet and Lone Peak at 11,253 feet. Snow often remains on these alpine peaks until midsummer.

    Huntsville Trappist Monastery

    The Abbey of Our Lady of the Holy Trinity is a community of Catholic monks belonging to the Order of the Cistercian of the Strict Observance, often called the Trappists. They arrived in Ogden Canyon in 1947. They raise approximately 300 Hereford beef cattle. They tend colonies of bees and produce the honey to be sold in liquid or cream for sale to visitors.

    Ogden Canyon (SR-39)
    Exit east from Ogden's 12th Street (SR-39) towards Huntsville
    At the mouth of Ogden Canyon are a number of amazing landmarks and scenic vistas.
    Rainbow Gardens - former hotel and Victorian spa is located nearby up the old Indian Trail -
    Rainbow Falls - this man-made waterfall is a popular scenic vista.

    Z Plate Formation - only of two such visible geological formations in the world.
    Cold Water Canyon Trail - wilderness hiking trail
    Lake Bonneville Slide - ancient lakeshore sea seashell slide area. Until 10,300 years ago, the lake reached up into these mountains.

    Pineview Reservoir
    This manmade lake is popular for both boating and its scenic vistas.
    Cemetary Point - Promontory on the west end of Huntsville offers best scenic vistas and lakeshore hiking trail. Look for nearby boating marina.
    Camp Browning - Popular fishing site on the north lake rim (via 5900 East St).
    Pineview Westshore Trail - scenic lakeshore trail.
    Wheeler Canyon - from southwest corner this road/trail leads to Snowbasin.

    Trappers Rendezvous (1825) - Peter Ogden and fellow trappers first meeting on the east shore of Pineview Reservoir.
    The Valley House (1872) - this architectural landmark bed and breakfast was the house of a former Mormon polygamist.
    David O McKay Home (1873) - early residence of famous LDS Church President.
    Shooting Star Saloon (1879) - longest continuous operating bar in state of Utah.
    Trappers Village (1890) - historic sites include Rendezvous Lodge and the Yukon Grill.
    Aldous Cabin (1861) - first log cabin in Huntsville
    Huntsville Fort (1850) - first compound established by Jefferson Hunt.

    Ogden Valley Balloon Festival [AUG] - Biggest and most beautiful event in the valley features bright colorful hot-air balloons from all over America in a three day festival including music and food.
    Taste of Ogden Valley Festival [SEPT] - held in conjunction with the annual Ogden Valley Triathlon. Enjoy the breathtaking fall colors, food and a free concert.
    Ogden Valley Off-road Triathlon [AUG] - This is an off-road mountain championship triathlon with swimming in Pineview Reservoir, mountain biking along Wheeler Creek and running on Snowbasin trails.
    Ogden Marathon [MAY] - Spring Roadrace with many participants starts at Red Rock Ranch and runs down Ogden Valley to Ogden City.

    Wolf Creek is located in the foothills between Ogden Valley and Powder Mountain. The front nine holes overlooks the Pineview Reservoir and Ogden Valley with several waterplay features, while the back nine holes meanders through oak groves. Wolf Creek Resort is a master-planned four-season community and includes restaurant, shops and fitness center.

    Huntsville Half Marathon & 5K Race [MAR]
    The Huntsville races are located in the town of Huntsville (near Pineview Reservoir). Experience the beauty of Ogden Valley in the Fall. The course takes you by Pineview Reservoir and the Huntsville Monastery. Proceeds benefit the Weber Track Alliance.

    This facility will feature 6 events: men's and women's downhill, men's and women's super G, and men's and women's combined.

    Snowbasin provides a great menu in the day lodge and cookouts with live entertainment on the weekends.

    Olympic Downhill - Official 2002 Olympic Venue
    Total of four events - both Men's, Women's and Combined Downhill. This is one of the most thrilling alpine Olympic events (since the 1924 games) where daredevil racers shoot down a course with a vertical drop of 800-1000 meters (500-800 meters for women) reaching speeds of 75 mph.

    Olympic Super-G - Official 2002 Olympic Venue
    Both Men's and Women's events - skiers race down a course through a series of gates, similar to the slalom or giant slalom. However, here the gates are more spread out and the course is much steeper.

    Summer Activities
    Mt Ogden Trail - hike up to top of Mt Ogden (Elev 9572).
    Wheeler Canyon Creek Trail - hike from the resort down to Pineview Reservoir.

    Spring Activities
    Snowbasin Melt Down Festival [APR] - The locals call it Pole / Peddle / Paddle where racers ski, bike and kayak down the hill.
