Since 1928 Camp Williams has been the main training base for the Utah National Guard.

State Capitol Memorials
Mormon Battalion Memorial - monument on east grounds dedicated to the 500 Mormons who pledged allegiance to their country by marching from Iowa to Mexico to fight in the 1846 Mexican conflict before returning to their new home in Utah.
Vietnam Veterans Memorial - monument found on the west grounds, commemorating the 388 Utah natives who died in the war.

Utah Museum of Natural History
State museum holds in trust artifacts and exhibits pertaining to the natural and cultural history of Utah. Wide range of minerals, gems, plants, animals and early inhabitants. There are also many children's interactive exhibits spread across the six major galleries.


U.S. military historical exhibits range from the 19th-century to Operation Desert Storm and includes uniforms, tanks and artillery guns. Fort Douglas is a former 9,000-acre military base located immediately east of the University of Utah.



Hill Aerospace Museum - Hill AFB
The museum exhibits over 80 aircraft covering aviation history from the 1930's to the present plus an assortment of artwork, uniforms and flight suits. F-15 and F-16 fighter planes, SR-71 Black Bird spy plane, Rockets, bombs and missiles.
