This ballteam originated as a franchise team in Washington D.C. On Apr 10, 1961, President John F. Kennedy throws out the first pitch as 26,724 watch the Washington Senators lose to Chicago White Sox, 4-3 in the franchise's first game. April 1972, the team plays their first game as the Texas Rangers at Turnpike Stadium which had been enlarged to a 35,694 seating capacity and renamed Arlington Stadium.
On April 1, 1994, a new era for the Texas Rangers began with the opening of The Ballpark in Arlington. The beautiful baseball-only facility serves as the centerpiece of a 270-acre complex which solidifies Arlington, Texas as an entertainment giant in the Southwest.
Ballpark amenities:
Legends of the Game Baseball Museum, a 17,000 square foot exhibit of over 1,000 baseball artifacts from the 19th century to the present day.
A 225-seat auditorium and theater, located in the Legends of the Game Baseball Museum.
Children's Learning Center, a 7,000 square foot area with numerous interactive exhibits for youngsters
A 12-acre lake which was named for late Rangers broadcaster Mark Holtz in September, 1997, with adjoining park and recreational space.
Walk Of Fame - A brick walk, ranging from 18 to 70 feet in width rings the entire perimeter of The Ballpark in Arlington. The Rangers' Walk of Fame is divided into panels featuring each year the club has been in Texas (starting 1972)

Major League Baseball comes to Houston in 1962, with a new National League Expansion Team, origionally known as the Houston Colt 45s. Three years later they change their name to the Astros and moved into the first dome-covered multi-purpose domed stadium in America, the Houston Astrodome.
In April 2000, the team moved to their new home at Enron Stadium. This ballpark includes the biggest retractable roof in baseball and is designed to withstand even hurricanes.
