Cub Scout Program
This adventure and crafts program is age appropriate for boys 7-10 years old. Cub Scouts do fun things with other kids such as, wear a cool uniform, go places, see things, play all kinds of sports and build things, like race cars and bird houses.

Boy Scout Program
This adventure and crafts program is age appropriate for boys 11-17 years old. The program's key objectives are to developing character, citizenship, and personal fitness through a wide range of activities, events, awards and learning opportunities.

>Venturing Program
This co-ed young adult adventure program is appropriate for ages 14-20. It is a program of exciting and meaningful activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, develop leadership skills, and become good citizens.

History of Scouting

Sir Baden-Powell, an officer in the British Army, wrote a how-to book for army scouts in the late 1890's, before going to serve in the South African Boer Wars where he would earn much fame and acclaim. Upon his return he found that his book had become extremely popular amoung teenage boys who were using the book to start their own outdoor adventures. This inspired him to write another version of the book and to start the scouting movement for young men.

The program was highly successful because it provided opportunities for young boys to get away from home and to experience exciting adventures.

Pinewood Derby Race Tip We have only one tip for building a great pinewood derby racer, but it is a doozy! Polish those wheel axels to create a friction free surface. Sprinkling a little graphite powder on the wheels will also help.

Cub Scout Program
This adventure and crafts program is age appropriate for boys 7-10 years old. Cub Scouts do fun things with other kids such as, wear a cool uniform, go places, see things, play all kinds of sports and build things, like race cars and bird houses.

Cub Scouting members join a Cub Scout pack and are assigned to a den, usually a neighborhood group of six to eight boys. Tiger Cubs (first-graders), Wolf Cub Scouts (second-graders), Bear Cub Scouts (third-graders), and Webelos Scouts (fourth- and fifth-graders) meet weekly.

Once a month, all of the dens and family members gather for a pack meeting under the direction of a Cubmaster and pack committee. The committee includes parents of boys in the pack and members of the chartered organization.

Sea Scouts

Sea Scouting is adventure on sea and land. It is a co-education program offered to young adults between the ages of 14 and 21. This program is organized to promote better citizenship and to improve members' boating skills and knowledge through instruction and practice in water safety, boating skills, outdoor, social, and service experiences, and knowledge of our maritime heritage.

Eagle Service Project
One of the critical requirements to become an eagle scout is to plan and direct a community service project of no less than 100 service hours. Imagine, every year over 1200 teenagers, on their own initiative, launching community improvement projects across the country - that is over 120,000 service hours. Some examples of these eagle projects include:

• Expanding and improving facilities at local museums
• Construction and improvement of nature trails and arboretums in state forests and parks
• Adding landscaping and beautification around public schools and government buildings

BSA National Order of the Arrow
The Order of the Arrow is Scouting's National Honor Society. The OA has more than 176,000 members located in lodges affiliated with approximately 327 BSA local councils. Scouts are elected to the Order by their fellow unit members, following approval by the Scoutmaster or Varsity team Coach. To become a member, a youth must be a registered member of a Boy Scout troop or Varsity Scout team and hold First Class rank.
