The Triple Crown
The Triple Crown is the most coveted prize in all of American horse racing. It is awarded to that horse which is able to win all three of the following famous races in one season. To date only 11 horse have done it.
- The Kentucky Derby - Held in First Saturday in May, Churchill Downs, Louisville, KY. Over 150,000 spectators join the festivities to watch 17 3-year old horses run for the title. Annual event since 1874.
- The Preakness - Held in mid May

Belmont Stakes - Final race on first saturday of June at
Elmont, NY. Over 130 years of history date back to the first
running of this race in 1869.

- Kentucky Oats - Churchill Downs - First Friday in May - $600,000 prize.
