IndyCar Open Test - [Late-Jan] Indy Racing League teams and drivers will participate in pre-season Open Tests Jan. 27-29 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Menards Infiniti Pro Series teams and drivers will test on the first day of the three-day session, followed by two days of IndyCar(R) Series testing. The Open Test is free-to-the-public.

Homestead Air Reserve Base
Opened in 1942 as a full service air force base, it was downgraded to air reserve base after suffering substantial damage from Hurricane Andrew in 1992.
For the future it is hoped that it will become one of 20 new Homeland Security training facilities being considered by the federal government.
