    Overview - Miami Beach

    Miami Beach (pop: 90,200) is located on the opposite side of Biscayne Bay. In the early 1900's, developer John Collins promoted the island as a upscale residential community and by the 1920's the land boom was in full swing. Today the many oceanfront boulevard (Collins Avenue) is lined with high-rise resort hotels that look out east over the Atlantic Ocean and west over the bay to the Miami skyline.

    Major attractions in the area include The Holocaust Memorial, Parrot Jungle Island and Miami Seaquarium. Most guests experience the bright architecture of the South Beach' Art Deco District.

    Beaches
    Miami Beach boasts 10.5 miles of white sand beach (approximately 200 feet wide) running from 87th Terrace to the tip of South Beach. See our Miami Beach Recreation Guide for more info on area watersports.

    Sanford L Ziff Jewish Museum of Florida

    The museum is housed in a restored art deco synagogue. Core exhibits traces 235 years of Jewish life and worship in Florida.

    Housed in a renovated 1920's art deco styled warehouse, this museum features paintings, artifacts, furnishings and other crafts from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
