Since its inception, the Florida Sea Base mission has been underwater exploration for Boy Scouts around the world. FSB CRC is located in Islamorada, Florida, famous as the sport fishing capital of the world and home to North America's only living coral reef. A tourist haven, you will never be bored in Islamorada, located near the middle of the Florida Keys. Within minutes of Sea Base are attractions like Johnny Morrison's World Wide Sportsman (where Ernest Hemmingway's fishing boat is on display), the Dolphin Research Center, Fossil Reef State Park, Theatre of the Sea's trained sea animals.

Windley Key Fossil Reef Geological State Park

Located on Windley Key at Mile Marker 85.5 (US-1) near Islamorada.
In 1908, Henry Flagler started quarrying activities that would expose a lot of fossilized coral reef. You can actually walk along the quarried walls and view numerous specimens of fossilized Montastrea, Porites and Diploria, all remnants of an ancient inner-shelf reef margin. An extensive hammock trail system also provides opportunities to spot native and migrating birds.

Tour Biscayne National Park
About 44 small coral islands, or keys, form a chain across the park offering excellent snorkeling and scuba diving around living coral reef. Mangrove woods line the shore and islands.

Dry Tortugas National Park
A clustor of seven tiny, uninhabited coral reef islands located about 70 miles west of Key West, in the Gulf of Mexico. These islands are the crowded home to thousands of nesting and migrating sea birds.

Tour Everglades National Park
1,398,800 acres of scenic, slow-moving, subtropical, marshy wilderness protected since 1947. Draining into Florida Bay and covered in places by tall prairie grasses and mangrove forests, this parks is best known for its rich and varied wildlife of crocodiles, alligators, manatees, ospreys, bald eagles and herons.

Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary
The 2,800 square nautical mile Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary (FKNMS) surrounds the entire archipelago of the Florida Keys and includes the productive waters of Florida Bay, the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. Cultural resources are also contained within the sanctuary. The proximity of coral reefs to centuries old shipping routes has resulted in a high concentration of shipwrecks and an abundance of artifacts. The Sanctuary includes three major habitats - coral reef, mangroves and seagrasses.
