This chain of small islands and reefs extend c.150 miles SW from Florida in to the Florida Bay. The tip of the keys is c.90 miles north of Cuba.

The Overseas Highway (US-1) makes commuting across the keys very easy. Infact, this has to be one of the most scenic driving tours in all of Florida. Drivers are surrounded by water all the way to the horizon on both sides of the road. This 127 mile route uses 42 bridges to island hop for over 127 miles.

Travel along the route is measured by Mile Markers (MM) which many local motels and restaurants use for their addresses. The highway starts at MM127 south of Miami and ends in Key West at MM0.

There are a lot of cool places to see and things to do in this area.

    Tour Key West
The last and most exciting of the Florida Keys, Key West is actually located much closer to Cuba than to mainland Florida.

Today’s visitors stroll along the Historic Harbor Walk overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, or a short walk to Harry S. Truman Little Whitehorse Museum and Mel Fisher Maritime Society Museum.

If you are coming by car, follow U.S. 1, the famous Overseas Highway through the fabulous Florida Keys, to its end in America’s southernmost city.
