Judaic temple organized in 1749 is the nation's oldest synagogue
in continuous use. The 1797 building was destroyed in the great
Charleston fire of 1838. In 1840 a Greek Revival style building was
completed. In 1824, the synagogue introduced instrumental music
during worship services and help set the beginnings for Reform
Judaism in the United States.

664-acre park commemorates the site of the state's first permanent
English settlement, founded in 1670. The replica of a 17th-century trading
