Santa Barbara (pop. 90,200) is located midway along a very scenic stretch of the Pacific Coast Hwy, between the Santa Ynez Mountains the ocean. It is one of the premier tourist destinations in Southern California and hometown of former president Ronald Reagan.
Discovered in 1602 by Spanish Conquistador Sebastian Vizcaino. In 1782 a Spanish fortress was built there followed in 1786 by the famous Mission. This Spanish heritage can be seen in the many white-washed adobe style buildings that grace this city.

Founded Dec 4, 1786 on the Feast of St. Barbara and completed in 1820.
This is one of the best preserved of the old Spanish Mission of California.
Only mission to stay in continuous use since founding. Original missionary
residence and guest rooms are now a museum exhibit. Many examples of early
Mexican art including an 1808 Moorish fountain.

South Coast Railroad Museum

This museum is housed inside the wooden 1901 Goleta Train Depot
which saw continuous service until 1973. Museum includes an old
Southern Pacific caboose, a 300-square-foot HO model railroad layout,
and many other pieces of railroading memorabilia.

Fess Parkers Doubletree Resort

Stearns Wharf
This major Santa Barbara landmark is located at the foot of State St on the harbor. Built in 1872 it is the oldest operating wharf on the West Coast. Very famous in the 1930's as main dock for floating casino ships. Today it is the site for the Sea Center Museum, fishing pier, gift shops, seafood market, and several restaurants.

For over 30 years on most weekends and holidays in Chase Palm Park near Stearns Wharf,
the Arts & Crafts show features the works of over 300 artists and craftsmen.
