    This base has a long famous history connected to naval aviation and has been a San Diego landmark for many years. This US Navy Base is responsible to arm, repair, train, and supply some 140 tenant commands of the US Pacific Fleet. It oversees several facilities including air base, aircraft carriers, amphibious base and several training installations. Currently serves as home port for the USS Nimitz (CVN-68) and USS Reagan (CVN-76).

To request base access, please complete a Special Event Request Form, and forward the completed form to the NBC Public Affairs Office, following the instructions on the form.     MWR Website - San Diego;
    MWR Department operates all NBC recreational and athletic facilities including golf course, bowling alleys, swimming pools, sports and fitness centers, dining facilities, theater and hobby shops.

    NAS North Island Base Website;
    North Island was commissioned a naval air station in 1917. The station was originally called the Naval Air Station, San Diego until 1955; North Island is headquarters for four major military flag officer staffs including: Commander Naval Air Forces, and supports 21 squadrons and more than 220 aircraft. Its piers are homeport to two major aircraft carriers, the USS NIMITZ (CVN 68), and the USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76). Additionally, the base is home to the Navy's Deep Submergence Unit. With all ships in port, the population of the station swells to more than 36,000 active duty, reserve, and civilian workers. It has large industrial complexes where commands, such as the Naval Aviation Depot, employ thousands of civilians in aircraft maintenance. The base also boasts its own parks, beaches, housing, and recreation areas.

    Established in 1943 after the land was literally created from the dredging of San Diego Bay done to allow large ships used in World War II to steam into Naval Station San Diego. It is the only Naval amphibious base on the West Coast. The amphibious base includes 5,500 yards of Pacific Ocean and bayside beachfront that is used for training. Naval Amphibious Base Coronado and its adjacent beaches provide training for Navy SEALs, amphibious insertion and other small units.

    San Clemente Auxilary Landing Field Base Website;
    The Navy has owned the Naval Auxiliary Landing Field (NALF), San Clemente Island since 1937, but came into its current importance during the past decade. San Clemente Island has been operated by Navy as a tactical training range and testing area for over 70 years. Tactical training ranges and operational areas provide space and facilities where U.S. military forces can conduct exercises in a safe, controlled environment. It is the Navy's only remaining live fire range. San Clemente is the southernmost Channel Island, covering 57 square miles.

    Imperial Beach Landing Field Base Website;
    The history of OLF Imperial Beach dates back to 1917 when the Army established "Aviation Field" on the current site. During the time "Aviation Field" was used for air gunnery practices, among other things, by the Army and was kept active throughout WWI. Today the mission of this base is to handle the overflow of helicopter squadrons traffic both VFR and IFR, from North Island. As a result the helicopter squadrons at North Island do 95 percent of their operations at Imperial Beach.

    Silver Strand Training Complex Base Website;
    Formerly known as the Naval Radio Receiving Facility (NRRF), has become the premier training facility for the military's special forces. It is known by locals as the "elephant cage" which is the nickname of a large landmark located there, the large "Wollan Weber" circular antenna. The city-like layout of the base also provides a realistic site for critical urban warfare training.

    Warner Springs SERE Training Facility Base Website;
    Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape [SERE] training is conducted at the U.S. Navy's Training Site in Warner Springs, CA located in the Cleveland National Forest. It is in a remote area near the community of Warner Springs in the northeastern San Diego County, at an elevation of about 3200 feet. The Camp consist of a headquarters area with an administrative building, several staff barracks building, a wastewater treatment plant, and a training compound.

    LaPosta Mountain Training Facility Base Website;
    The Mountain Warfare Training Facility is located 50 miles east of San Diego, near the city of Campo. The 1,063 acre site has a firing range, an administration building, and a dormitory. The Mountain Warfare Training Facility served as a satellite tracking station for many years until current technology made the giant tracking dishes obsolete. The property was reconfigured as a training center when the station was shut down in 1986.

    Naval Base Point Loma
    Located at the mouth of San Diego harbor, Naval Base Point Loma comprises 316 acres on beautiful but rugged coastline, although the main facilities are located on approximately 30 acres of relatively flat land. It has served primarily as a Submarine Base since 1959. Major warships based here is the Third Fleet command ship Coronado, and the five attack submarines of Submarine Squadron 11.

    The base is located south of Downtown San Diego at the foot of 32nd Street near National City. Naval Base San Diego is a major port of the US Pacific Fleet with over 50 warships stationed there. There are also 50 tenant commands at Naval Station. The 14 Piers cover 12 miles of bayfront. Over 35,000 military and more than 7,000 civilians personel work here.

    The Navy Yacht Club San Diego is an element of the Commanding Officer Naval Base Coronado's Morale, Welfare and Recreation program. The club is located in facilities at the Fiddler’s Cove Marina, on Strand Way and is a branch of the United States Naval Sailing Association. The Navy Yacht Club offers both Single and Family memberships. Membership is open to all Active Duty and Retired military personnel, DOD employees, US Coast Guard, and Military Active Reserve personnel. The NYCSD hosts formal sailboat regattas and Wednesday night "Beer Can Races" in San Diego Bay.

    Special events include the Miramar Air Show, Navy Ship Parade, Ship Tours, Air Race, Coronado Speed Race, golf tournaments and the MCRD Boot Camp Challenge.
    Sea and Air Parade - San Diego Bay - Your U.S. Navy will parade down The Big Bay to display the various types of ships and aircraft that comprise the world's mightiest Navy. The tentative list of participating ships includes an Aircraft Carrier, Cruiser, Guided Missile Destroyer, Destroyer, Frigate, Nuclear Submarine, Amphibious Assault Ship, Amphibious Dock and Platform Landing Ships, SEAL Support Boat, and other small craft.
    MCAS Miramar Air Show - The world's best military and civilian pilots will soar through San Diego's skies in this exciting three-day event. Show features the Air Force Thunderbirds, US Navy Blue Angels, the Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier, Air Force F-16 and the Navy's F-18 E/F Super Hornet! Attracting crowds of hundreds of thousands of spectators, the air show displays numerous types of aircraft, from old biplanes to the newest technology of stealth fighter jets, along with the Marine Air and Ground Task Force (MAGTF) simulated combat demonstration. There will also be over 200 hands-on static display exhibits where the general public can see civilian and military aviation technology up close.
    Coronado Speed Festival - The runways and taxiways of NAS North Isalnd transform into the stage for almost 300 vintage racecars competing wheel-to-wheel on a spectator-friendly 1.6-mile course. Annual event since 1998.
    Red Bull Air Race - Over San Diego Bay - The competition features a dynamic new discipline of flying, called ‘air racing’ where the objective is to navigate a challenging race course in the sky, in the fastest possible time.
    US Naval Ship Tours - Broadway Pier - U.S. Pacific Fleet invite everyone with an interest in seeing some of the Navy’s finest ships to come down to Broadway Pier for a chance to experience the inside of a Navy ship firsthand.
