La Jolla Sea Caves
Great Outdoor Adventure This popular kayak tour will allow you to explore the La Jolla sea caves and ecological reserve, which boasts an amazing unique collection of natural scenery and wildlife. Paddle alongside your own expert naturalist/biologist guide. Watch for numerous types of sea birds, sea lions, seals and sometimes even dolphins and whales. This is a very fun and easy 2-3 hour adventure for ages 12 and up. Besides gliders, Mataguay features a full range of outdoor wilderness activities including camping, hiking trails, aquatics, canyon climbing courses and shooting sports.
Joshua Tree
U.S. National Park Over 793,000 acres of wilderness in the Mojave Desert country. It is located immediately northeast of Palm Springs, which is the best place to check for nearby accomodations. Of particular note are the many unusual plants found here including Joshua trees, cactus,ocotillo, smoke treess, palo verdes, pinon pins, yucca plants. The best time to visit is early spring when a big array of desert wildflowers reach full bloom and the weather is more hospitable. There are many Rock Formations of diverse size throughout this park. They make for a popular destination for Boy Scouts and Experienced Rock Climbers.

U.S. National Park California's newest national parkland is located east of central California's Salinas Valley. This landmark includes the eroded remnants of a long-extinct volcano. Bicycle Camping Adventure The newest boy scout adventure fad is traveling from campsite to campsite with your bike. There are a number of beach area campgrounds easily accessible by coast highway bike trails.
Spend a fun-filled half day or full day on the ocean waters just off the coast of Newport Beach on this deep-sea fishing cruise. Rod and tackle equipment is included, so come with your family and friends, and see who can catch the most fish! No experience is necessary – the ship’s experienced crew will be there to help people of all skill levels catch a fish.
Cub Scout Activty Camp Since the camp is located in an urban park in the heart of San Diego, it is not used for much wilderness activity. However it is a very convenient camping spot for Scout Troops, Cub Packs and other Family and Youth Groups planning to visit many of the fine adventure attractions in the San Diego Area. This facility is located adjacent to the World Famous San Diego Zoo as well as the many fine museums of Balboa Park. It is very close to Sea World San Diego, Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres, USS Midway, Mormon Battalion Days at Old Town San Diego and many other great area attractions.
Youth Waterfront Sports Center Located at the base of the cliffs directly below Fort MacArthur. The camp was open to both Scouts and other youth groups and teaches aquatics related merit badges year-round. The Spielberg Center donations added a swimming pool, campgrounds, dining area, craft center, Scout Shop, staff quarters, boat house and amphitheater. Camp overnight and enjoy local activities: NOTE: Most youth camps are available year around to all youth groups and family activities regardless of affiliation. In fact many want your business to support their core operations.
Catalina Island Scout Camp Since 1925, Cherry Valley has been one of the most popular Boy Scout Camps in all of California. It is one of two BSA camps located offshore on Catalina Island with a great spot for many water sports including snorkeling, Scuba diving, canoeing, rowing, sailing and swimming. Because it is located on the leeward side of the island, the cove is calm making it a perfect place for lots of fun in the water. Hikes over mountainous terrain, war canoe races, touring an old silver mine, a sea lab with a touch tank so you can learn about local marine life is available.
Manti-LaSalle Mountains, Utah This High Adventure Camp located in the Manti LaSalle Mountains near Zion National Park in southern Utah is designed for older scouts. Units hike into outpost areas carrying a five to six days supply of food and their gear. Some of the features are mountain man camp, Indian village, black powder, backpacking, mountain bikes, canoeing, sailing and windsurfing, rappelling, homesteading, and rock climbing. Zion Park treks are also offered and are sure to be the highlight of any week.
Scout Troops come from all over the United States to spend a week by her crystal clear waters. The facilities have, over the last several years, been brought into the 21st century offering a state-of-the-art marine science center, rifle range, handicraft lodge as well as the premiere waterfront. Rugged "E" includes kayaking, hiking, aquatic COPE events, overnight trips, day and night snorkeling trips and mountain biking.
Boseker Reservation @ Idyllwild Summer Camp / Winter Camp Set amongst towering pine trees, high in the mountains overlooking Southern Califonia, Camp Emerson features a complete BSA Summer Camp program including shooting ranges, scoutcraft, nature, and other merit badge programs. Klondike Derbies happen regularly during winter weekends in the snow. Oldest Scout Camp in Southern California and it has access to the Brown High Adventure Area.
San Diego Youth Aquatic Center This Boy Scout Camping Facility is located right behind Sea World on Fiesta Island in the heart of Mission Bay. Facilities include many watersports equipment such as sailboats, kayaks, as well as an opportunity to pitch a tent adjacent to the waters edge. . Camp Fee Waiver / Credits Many BSA Camp Facilities will waive the camping fee for each participant in a group that completes a four-hour service project for the camp. San Gabriel Valley Wilderness Firestone Scout Reservation is nestled in Tonner Canyon just east of SR-57 between Brea and Diamond Bar, California. Facilities include wilderness trails, archery and gun range, orienteering, camping and wildlife. Firestone has sites for small groups as well as those needing space for over 1,000 people.
LAAC Lake Arrowhead Scout Camps FLSR is a group of Boy Scout and Cub Scout Resident Summer Camps located 3 miles east of Lake Arrowhead, California on more than 2,000 acres in the San Bernardino National Forest. They offer a wide range of Merit Badges and activities. Areas include Ecology/Conservation, Handicrafts, Swimming, Scout Craft, Path finding, Horsemanship, C.O.P.E., Climbing, John Wayne Outpost, Loggers Jamboree outpost, Archery, Shotgun Shooting, and Riffle Shooting to name a few. This facility also operates winter camps and Mountain Man Thunder in November and a Cub Scout resident summer camp.
Mountain Wilderness Camp Boy Scout summer camp founded in 1960. It was partially burned in the California October 2007 fires and is currently undergoing a major rebuilding process. .
Big Bear Lake Camp San Bernardino Mountains High Country Camping - Holcomb Valley Scout Reservation is located on a high country meadow near Big Bear and surrounded by tree covered hills and mountains. Holcomb Valleyprovides programs for all ages and stages of Scouting. Programs include horsemanship, rock climbing and mountain biking.
BSA Orange County Council This 210-acre outdoor education center (IROEC) features half-day through five-day academic and recreational programming. Our hands-on approach to outdoor education allows participants to explore the outdoors while developing creativity, leadership skills and a respect for the environment. Camp adjacent to Irvine Regional Park and Orange County Zoo. .
Pacific Palisades Wilderness BSA Wilderness Camp - Pacific Palisades Camp Josepho is nestled into remote Rustic Canyon near the beaches of Pacific Palisades and Malibu in the Santa Monica Mountains. Activity areas include an olympic size pool with flush toilets and hot showers, a separate range for BB shooting, rifle and archery and an outdoor setting for campfires, nature and Scoutcraft.
Huntington Lake Located on one of the most famous sailing lakes in California at 7000 foot elevation in the high Sierras. Camp Kern features a traditional scout camp experience surrounded by a wide range of nature and wildlife. Camp Kern borders a wilderness area and features a great hike day adventure. Other activities include aquatics, boating, shooting ranges, fishing, rock climbing, and horsemanship.
LAAC - Inyo Forest High adventure scouting base camp of the Los Angeles Area Council located in the Inyo National Forest at 9640 foot elevation. The camp is near the Tioga Pass Road on the eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevada bordering the Hoover Wilderness and Yosemite National Park. COPE Course and one-week backpacking trips into the Yosemite Wilderness. 18 preplanned trek itineraries available that include peak climbing, day hikes, rock climbing, trail cooking, Ranger Training, great fishing and peak bagging.
BSA Orange County Council The Schoepe Scout Reservation at Lost Valley is located in the Warner Springs Area of San Diego County, California. It is a wilderness camp with 1,400 acres of oak, pine, and chaparral, bordered by the Cleveland National Forest and the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. The camp facilities include: 22 cabins; two swimming pools; a two-acre lake; rifle, archery, and shotgun ranges; horse stables; mountain bike center; observatory; two handicraft centers; an Indian Village; and a nature center. Two dining halls, Beckman Hall and Casey Lodge, provide Scouts with meal service. Scouts can also choose to participate in High Adventure programs, with challenges ranging from climbing the sixty-five foot rock face to rappelling, black powder shooting, and High COPE.
Aviation Merit Badge Program BSA San Diego-Imperial Council Besides camping, hiking, and general outdoor fun, there are countless things to do at Mataguay during the year. Programs which are available include archery, swimming at the pool, boating at the lake, .22 rifle, black powder (muzzle loading) rifle, shot gun, and BB gun shooting. For older Scouts C.O.P.E. and Climbing/Rappelling are available. This boy scout camp is the only one to feature high altitude glider rides as part of their summer camp program.
Orange County Youth Aquatics Center It features a fleet of boats includes kayaks, canoes, rowboats and over 3 dozen sailboats. In 2002, the Sea Base began to transform this facility into a modern teaching and aquatics center. .
OCBSA Wilderness camp The Oso Lake facility is currently available for open camping and the council offers organized weekend programs geared towards Webelos Scouts through First Class. The Oso Reservoir is the perfect venue for Scouts to enjoy catch-and-release bass fishing, canoeing and rowing. The facilities feature a small archery range, large camping areas (perfect for first time campers), a multi-level pavilion and amphitheater.
Marina Del Rey Auqatics Center Located in picturesque Marina Del Rey, adjoining Burton Chace Park. The base has become a center for outstanding and diverse programs ranging from harbor cruises, overnight camping and conducting Sea Camps. Paddle Boats, Sailboats big and small, Kayaks, Rowboats, Canoes and Motorboats. .
Rancho Alegre is located in the wooded oak foothills of the Santa Ynez Mountain Range of the Los Padres National Forest, approximately 20 miles north of Santa Barbara. The camp is at 2,000 feet elevation and covers 225 acres with areas having an inspiring view across the valley and Lake Cachuma. Activities include nature, adventure, aquatics, scoutcraft, handcrafts, and shooting sports.
Found at the 6500-foot elevation among rolling meadows, cedars, firs, oaks and some of the world's tallest Ponderosa Pines. In addition to the usual camp buildings, shooting ranges, pool and lake, facilities include a number of secluded outpost camps, a wide-ranging orienteering course, a COPE course, and four historic log cabins that have been preserved and adapted for use as program centers. Its location on the edge of the San Gorgonio Wilderness Area offers many opportunities for challenging hikes through the magnificent backcountry. The camp gets snow roughly mid-December to March.
