Cypress is a suburban community with a population of over 48,000. After World War II, many farmers were forced out of Long Beach, because a great number of GI's wanted to live there; the farmers then relocated to Cypress. The Cypress School District had a summer playground program, an art teacher and a music teacher. In the late 1940s, Cypress was the third largest dairy district in the United States.

Bandai America will begin development of the new Strawberry Shortcake toy line this fall with retailer introductions scheduled for spring 2003. The toy line will include items such as Strawberry Shortcake and friends dolls, playsets, vehicles and much more.
What is wonderful about the Strawberry Shortcake line is that it bears a timeless universal play pattern. Strawberry Shortcake is about fantasy play, which is still very appealing to little girls, said Bill Beebe, senior vice president, sales and marketing, Bandai America.
Bandai America plans to stay true to the original theme and play value of the property, while using the updated look of the characters that American Greetings created to reflect a more contemporary style for today's young girl.
