Located in the cliffs and canyons of the Santa Monica Mountains, Topanga State Park features 36 miles of trails through open grassland, live oaks and spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean.
Excellent recreational opportunities for hikers as well as mountain bikers (restricted to fire roads) and equestrians.
Numerous geologic formations can be found in the park, including earthquake faults, marine fossils, volcanic intrusions, and a wide variety of sedimentary formations.
Topanga Canyon Docents
- Started in 1974 by a group of friends and activists who wanted to share their love of nature and the Santa Monica Mountains. We lead public nature walks and give programs for school children.
We're committed environmentalists who've created a popular and fun educational program.
Hiking Trails
Musch Trail - Runs north from Trippet Ranch to Musch Tail Camp.
Backbone Trail - winds through the Santa Monica Mountains from Will Rogers State Historic park in the east to Point Mugu State Park in the west.
Santa Inez Trail - Descending into the Santa Inez Canyon, hikers can see sandstone formations where moisture can collect, supporting numerous cliff gardens. Close to the bottom of the trail is a side trail leading to a lovely waterfall.

The nature center is located in the skeet lodge of historic Trippet Ranch. "Rancho Las Lomas Celestiales"
was originally built for US Judge Oscar Trippet (1856 to 1923) and then more extensively developed in the 1940s by his son.

Topanga Community House
The Community Club is a meeting place for the Topanga Co-Op preschool, Seniors, Teens, Anonymous groups, Historical Society, Chamber of Commerce, the Topanga Symphony, Spiritual and Health gatherings, Music in Motion for Tots & much more.
he adjacent ballfield is the home field of Topanga Youth Baseball and Soccer League.
