    Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area
    Over 150,000 acres of rugged mountain, parkland, beaches and hiking trails overlooking the L.A. Basin and Pacific Ocean.

    Leo Carrillo State Beach - West Malibu
    This state park includes 1.5 miles of coastal beachfront for swimming, surfing, windsurfing, surf fishing and beachcombing. The beach also has tide pools, coastal caves and reefs for exploring. Giant sycamores shade the main campgrounds. The park also features back-country hiking.

    Nicholas Canyon County Beach - West Malibu
    Fishing, Handicap Accessways, Picnicking, Restrooms, Showers, Surfing, Swimming. Known as Zeros Beach by surfers, is a fun left point break that picks up any swell year round. It is a great beach for surfing, bodyboarding, and bodysurfing.

    Robert Meyer State Beach - West Malibu
    This beach is made up of a number of cove or cliff-foot strands known as "pocket beaches" along the west end of the city of Malibu: El Pescador, La Piedra and El Matador. Each of these three small beaches are a jewel unto themselves. These beaches can be crowded during the summer, however during the off season, they offer a perfect opportunity to experience solitude at its finest.

    Charmlee Wilderness Park - West Malibu CA

    Area maintained by the National Park Service, Charmlee Wilderness Park is 590 acres of the best of the Santa Monica Mountains Coastal Slope environment. The park includes picnic areas, eight miles of hiking trails, native plant displays, and a nature center.

    Decker Canyon Campground - Malibu CA
    Decker Canyon Camp is a year-round facility, a 38-acre tent camping site for groups; located in the rustic and rugged Santa Monica Mountains, a few miles from the Pacific Ocean on State Highway 23. Decker has four sites, with total accom-modations for 150 campers.

    Zuma Trancas Canyons

    The perennial streams running through here gives Zuma Canyon and Trancas Canyon an abundance of animal and plant life.

    Zuma County Beach
    Swimming, Surfing, Fishing, Diving, Volleyball courts, Food, Restrooms, Showers. A south swell makes for challenging surfing in the summer. Zuma has a scenic bike path, which runs northbound about 2.5 miles.

    Point Dume State Beach
    At the end of Westward Beach Road, a gradual ascending trail leads to an ancient coastal bluff sand dune. Point Dume State Preserve features headlands, cliffs, rocky coves and vast beach access.
    Whale Watching - Point Dume is a perfect place to watch for California gray whales during the December - March migration period.

    Las Tunas County Beach - East Malibu
    West LA Surf Report : 310-457-9701;
    Swimming, Diving, Fishing. The easternmost beach in Malibu, this spot is more popular with fishermen and scuba divers, although swimmers and surfers seeking some private space may flock here as well.

    Topanga Canyon State Park
    Located in the cliffs and canyons of the Santa Monica Mountains, Topanga State Park features 36 miles of trails through open grassland, live oaks and spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. Excellent recreational opportunities for hikers as well as mountain bikers (restricted to fire roads) and equestrians. Popular features include mountain wildflowers and Trippet Ranch Nature Center.

    Malibu Equestrian Park
    Located next to Malibu High School, the Malibu Equestrian Park features two riding rings, a picnic area and restrooms. This facility is available to rent for horse shows and is otherwise open to the public for practice and pleasure riding.

    Malibu Lagoon State Beach
    The beach features wetlands, flower gardens and sandy beach. The lagoon is where Malibu Creek meets the sea. Malibu Surfrider Beach has a long standing as a premier surfing beach. On the east side of Malibu Creek Bridge, Malibu Pier allows for excellent saltwater fishing. On the west side of Malibu Creek Bridge, visitors will find picnic tables and a nature area, excellent for bird watching and a the study of a greatly diminished eco-system a Southern California saltwater marsh. A museum is housed inside the Adamson House, a registered historical landmark, was built in 1929 as a showcase for Malibu Potteries.

    Malibu Creek State Park
    This park features hiking, fishing, bird watching and horseback riding opportunities. There are 15 miles of streamside trail through oak and sycamore woodlands an chaparral-covered slopes. The park was the center of Chumash Native American life for centuries and was once used to film numerous movies and TV shows, such as Planet of the Apes and M*A*S*H.

    Malibu Solstice Canyon Park
    This Park is run by the National Park Service. There is no entrance fee and there are miles of hiking trails, one leading to a waterfall and pond.

    Dan Blocker County Beach - Malibu CA
    Swimming, Surfing, Fishing, Diving, Portable Restrooms. Dan Blocker makes for a lovely little cove with clear water and not much surf. This strip of undeveloped beach has over 200 miles of hiking trails up into the Santa Monica Mountains.

    Tuna Canyon Park - East Malibu
    18,000 acres of contiguous protected open space from Topanga State Park west to Las Flores Canyon. Tuna Creek, one of the most pristine aquatic habitats in the Santa Monica Mountains, courses through the eastern end of the property to the ocean.
