Tournament Occurs at Griffith Park Tennis Courts at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Los Feliz Blvd., Join us in one of the longest running tournaments in the Los Angeles area - over 80 years plus. Bi-annual tournament in early May and early October.
Griffith Park is a L.A.'s large urban park and is famous as home for the Griffith Observatory, L.A. Zoo and Travel Town. The park consists of 4,100 acres on the east of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. There are a number of attractions, recreational facilities and cultural institutions located here along side wilderness areas and 54 miles of equestrian and hiking trails.
Orginally part of the Rancho Los Feliz Spanish land grant, it was donated as a urban park to the City of Los Angeles in 1896 by its then owner, Griffith J. Griffith, a Welsh emigrant who made a fortune in gold mining.
Mount Hollywood - The famous Hollywood sign can be seen along the south side of Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park.

Travel Town - Griffith Park
This outdoor transportation museum features steam locomotives and other early railroad equipment.
The outdoor exhibit area features early Los Angeles wagons, automobiles and fire-fighting equipment
dating to the period 1869-1940.

Griffith Park Trails
Mt Hollywood Trail -
By far the most popular hiking trail in all of Griffith Park. One of the reasons for its popularity is access and a million dollar view of Los Angeles, including the Pacific Ocean and eastern San Fernando Valley.
The beginning of the Hollywood trail starts in Fern Dell (Mococahuenga Canyon) at the bottom entrance to the park.
A more popular and much shorter trail begins at the north end of the Griffith Observatory parking lot at the Charlie Turner trailhead.
Bronson Caves -
1.75 miles round-trip, strenuous. This area of Griffith Park is probably the least visited area.
The old abandoned rock quarry and it caves were at one time one of Hollywood's most famous filming locations including the Batman and Robin series.
Opened in 1907 before it was part of the part, this area was the Los Angeles Stone Company and used as a source to construct the rail lines for the famous Red Cars of the 1930's and 40's.
Driving along Franklin Ave. east of the Hollywood Fwy (101) turn north on Bronson or Canyon Drive. If on Bronson you will intersect with Canyon Drive, continue north thru the gates and park at the last parking lot before the locked gate at Hollywoodland Camp.
Brush Canyon -
Same location and direction as those for the Bronson Caves, however at the top parking lot for Hollywoodland Camp go thru the locked gate where you will be on the Brush Canyon Trail.
This 1.25 mile (steep hike) goes to some of the tallest points in the hills here including Mt Hollywood, Mt Bell, Mt Chapel and Mt Lee.
Although not a attractive mountain top, Mt. Lee boasts a SUPERB 360° view of the LA basin and San Fernando Valley. Looking down beneath you is the Hollywood sign as well as a great view of the Hollywood Reservoir.
Amir's Garden -
1 mile round trip from the Mineral Wells Bridle Trail and head uphill. Just after the trail turns left you will pass a water tank and after a short while see the flagpole of Amir's Garden.
The garden is at the top of a terraced hillside that was once barren and now planted with trees and shrubs, thanks to the endless love for the park by Amir Dialameh.
Fern Dell / Western Canyon -
2.5 mile, moderate loop trail starts at the Griffith Observatory and walk down the fire road #21 at the east end of the Observatory building.
Here you will find picnic tables, restrooms and a beautiful brook abundant with vegetation and a variety of plants, brook and trees including coastal redwoods.
East Observatory Trail - 1.5 miles round trip, moderate.
Aberdeen Trail -
2.75 miles one-way, moderate, starts from the upper end of Vermont, just north of the Greek Theater. At the upper end is the Bird Sanctuary and Nature Trail.
Beacon Hill Loop -
3.75 miles round-trip, moderate. Beacon Hill was named for the airway beacon that was located on top of the hill to alert planes of the hills to the old Grand Central Airport in Glendale during the 1910's and 20's.
Mineral Wells to Mt. Bell -
4.25 miles round-trip, moderate. This trail loop passes through the center of the park starting at Mineral Springs Picnic Area southside and continue to climb into the park's back country.
Trail landmarks include Bee Rock and Mt. Bell.

Griffith Park boasts 4 Golf Courses which each year hosts the City Junior Golf Championship, the Men's and Women's City Golf Championship and hosted the Los Angeles Open in 1937, '38 and '39. The most difficult decision to make at Griffith Park is which course to play first.
