Founded in 1989 - The Mountain Skies Astronomical Society operates the
Robert Brownlee observatory at over 5000 feet above the
city lights and smog in a beautiful mountaintop setting. The observatory features a 16-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain
telescope with electronic goto system.

Rim of the World Drive - SR-18
SR-18 is one of the best scenic drives in Southern California. It is named
Rim of the World Drive because it follows a long high, west-east mountain ridgetop for nearly 50 miles.
To the south are views of the San Bernardino and to the north is the Mojave Desert. On a clear day you can see
for over one hundred miles. The highway runs between the 4000 and 8000 foot elevation levels through a heavily
wooded area of the San Bernardino National Forest. There are several lookout vistas
and forest trailheads along the way.
