Kern River Trail Run [MAR] - 5K / 10MI / 20MI
This is not an easy course. Many finishers have said this course is harder than running a road marathon.
There are 5 major uphills, and some pretty fun downhills to test your quads. For 5 ½ miles, the course winds along following the path of the Kern River.
Sponsored by Bakersfield Track Club.
Lake Isabella Fishing Derby [MAR]
3rd Weekend in March; Derby Website;
With total prizes of $70,000 and hopefully, a lucky fisherman will catch that special Trout, "Mr or Mrs Ten Grand", worth $10,000 each.
Isabella Lake, is one of largest fresh water lakes in southern California.

Avocado Festival - Carpinteria CA [OCT]
The Avocado Festival has evolved into one of the largest festivals in California with three days of fabulous food, terrific music, and great safe family fun.
The Avocado Expo Tent will offer an educational slant on the avocado industry, Best Guacamole or
Biggest Avocado contests, cooking demonstrations and home to the world's largest guacamole.
Here are three entertainment stages with over 40 acts. Golf Tournament. Kids Block Party.
Lemon Festival - Goleta CA [OCT]
Since 1993, the Lemon Festival has been the biggest annual celebration in the Goleta area.
With the most extensive 'Safety Street' in the county, the wildly-popular Pie-Eating Contests, arts and crafts vendors,
and more food than you can shake a lemon-scented stick at.

Bakersfield 2nd Half Marathon [NOV]
This course heads East from Yokuts Park on the bike path along the Kern River.
Also an out and back course designed for quick times.
