National Park Tour Overview

Redwood National Park protects 110,246 acres of dense coastal old growth redwood forests. These are the tallest trees in the world. Parklands also include marshland, beaches, rugged coastline, rivers and prairies. It is located along coast hwy US-101 between Crescent City and Eureka, about 330 miles north of San Francisco. Free Admission - but there is a day use fee for certain picnic and camping areas within the park.

California State Parks - Within the forest are several state run parks with campsite facilities:

• Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park - contains 15 memorial redwood groves - located 7 mi south of Crescent City on US Hwy 101. Free Day Use..

• Jedediah Smith Redwoods

• Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park 488-2171 40,000 acres of redwood park protects endangered herd of Roosevelt Elks. Beach access, nature hikes and campground facilities.

Trails take you along 33 miles of wild scenic coastline - home to sea lions and migrating whales. There are over 150 miles of trails of through old growth redwood forests.
