Angel Fire (Pop: 1,000) is a popular ski resort destination, with a base elevation of 8,600 feet (2,621 m) and a summit of 10,677 feet (3,254 m) with over 500 acres (2 kmē) of skiable terrain. To the north, off U.S. Route 64, is Vietnam Veterans Memorial State Park, begun by the family of fallen United States Marine David Westphall, who was killed in the Vietnam War in 1968. Every summer, the village of Angel Fire hosts Music from Angel Fire, an annual summer music festival which has been presenting outstanding chamber music concerts to local communities since 1984. Angel Fire venues include the United Church of Angel Fire and Angle Fire Community Center. Please note that Northern New Mexico is heavily visited in the summer (May-August) which makes getting reservations difficult. The best time to visit is March / April / September / October when there is beautiful weather and less competition for reservations. New Mexico area code is 505.
