Located in Rio Grande Park, the zoo features over 1,300 animals in a 60-acre zoological park. Very good reptile collection with snakes, frogs, amphibians and lizards from around the world. Concerts, bird shows and other programs usually take place during the summer. Popular animals are the Komodo Dradons, white bengal tigers, polar bears, gorillas and bison. Exhibits are surrounded by lots of trees. Major Exhibits: Frances Seebe Tropical America - New exhibit with
jungle-like fog, vampire bats, toucans, spider monkeys, orchids
tarantulas and bright bromeliads.
Seal and Sea Lions - watch for special feeding times
at 10:30AM and 3:30PM daily in their 350,000-gallon tank.
New Mexico Prairie - includes
the endangered Mexican Wolf.

Although not the biggest aquarium in the world, there is still plenty of exciting exhibits to entertain the whole family. One exhibit covers the life cycle of the 1,886 mile long Rio Grande from the Colorado Rockies to the Gulf of New Mexico. Other exhibits include moray eels, crabs and manta rays. The biggest feature is the world's second largest shark tank - 285,000-gallons and a very thick acrylic glass viewing wall. Rio Grande Biological Garden
