Overview
Valley of Fire State Park is located 14 miles southwest of Overton and State Hwy 169. It is a great basin about 6 miles long and almost 4 miles wide. Primary feature are eroded red sandstone formations that date back 150 millions years.
Also many prehistoric petroglyphs are visible. These date back to the time of 300 B.C. to 1150 A.D. are attributable to the Basket Maker peoples and Anasazi Pueblo farmers.
