Founded in 1849 by Mormon traders sent west by Brigham Young, Genoa was the first permanent settlement in Nevada. The first session of the Nevada territorial legislature convened here in 1859 and drafted a cause to be separated from Utah Territory.

Located at junction of Genoa Ln. and Foothill Rd (SR-206). Restored log stockade and trading post built in 1851 in the Carson Valley to resupply pioneers before they continued westward over the Sierra Nevadas to California. Museum with state history exhibits onsite.

Located 4 miles south of Gardnerville on US-395, this facility raises the threatened Lahontan cutthroat trout for stocking in western Nevada waters.
