The small town of Eureka is county seat for Eureka County. Formerly a major mining town in the 1870's, its population exceeded 10,000 with 100 saloons, several newspapers, hotels, an opera house and five fire companies. The town sits astride the old Pony Express Trail - today's highway US-50.

Eureka Opera House

Structure dates back to 1880. Today it presents cultural shows and exhibits on early Nevada history.

Eureka Sentinel Museum

Houses original 1870 printing equipment used to publish the Eureka Sentinel. Also on display or posters, placards and reprints generated in the 1870's and 1880's.

Eureka County Courthouse
Built in 1880, it is still in active use today. Features include original furnature, ornate courtroom and walk-in vaults.
