Capitol Plaza Hotel

Governor's Mansion
Built 1871 on the site of the original capital building. The original was built in 1826 but destroyed by fire in 1837. Guided tours can be arranged - (573) 741-4141.

State Capitol Building

First capitol building was completed in 1826 but destroyed by fire in 1837. The second burned after being hit by lightning in 1911. The current structure was built in 1918 of Carthage stone and located to overlook the Missouri River. Artwork by various major artists capture legends, history and landscapes of Missouri.

• Missouri State Museum - Exhibits representing the cultural and natural history of Missouri. Located in the History and Resources halls.

Jefferson Landing State Historical Site
Several historic buildings located at the river end of Jefferson Street that reflect the early 19th-century river trade. A visitors center inside the Lohman Building has an exhibit on the early history of Jefferson City.

Missouri Law Enforcement Museum and Safety Education Center

Exhibits on las enforcement antiques includes five completely equipped patrol cars from 1931 to the present.

Runge Conservation Nature Center
Open: Mon-Sat 8AM-5PM / Sun Noon-5PM; (573) 526-5544; Free Admission;
Located on SR-79 about one-half mile north of junction with US-50/US-63. Includes exhibits and nature trails that depict various Missouri habitats; i.e. wetlands, rivers, farms, prairies, glades, forests and caves. 2,400 gallon aquarium holds indigenous fish.

Missouri Veterinary Museum

Collection of over 2500 professional veterinary instruments and other items. Some artifacts are extremely rare or over 100 years old.
