Rules for Good Health![]() |

| Quick Tips for Great Life Adventures |
Scientific research has proven that you can add over 20 years to your personal life expentancy by following these three simple rules.
Live 10 Years Longer - By eating right, regular exercise and avoiding harmful drugs.
Die 10 Years Early - By eating sloppy, being lazy and using bad drugs.
That is a 20 year gap already verified by years of medical research. If the average life expectancy is 72 years,
people who take care of themselves will be active in fun pursuits well into their eighties. Those that don't will
be running out of steam just barely after their retirement date.
Good Health Helps You Be Happier!
People who are healthy and in shape are much happier than those who are not.
They also have more energy to live each day to the fullest. Taking good care of your body will not only
help you live longer, but you can start each day feeling better, both physically and emotionally, and have
the energy to charge into today's new adventure.
Reduce Your Risk For Disease!
Researchers have verified that not only does good nutrition and exercise keep you
fit and thin and add years to your life expentancy, but it also substantially reduces your risk for a number of
medical problems such as cancer, heart disease and alzheimers dimentia. Additionally your immune system is better
able to rebuff common flus, colds and viruses that circulate in public places.
Good Health Helps You Be Smarter!
People who are healthy and in shape are able to think clearer than those who are not.
Health problems can be a serious distraction that will interfere when you want to do your studies or need to
think your way through some of your daily challenges. People who are in shape directly benefit from improved blood
circulation to the brain. Also some of us find exercise time to be a good time for personal meditation and to
ponder upon our life's goals and challenges. (Or to plan your next great Life Adventure.)
Reduce Your Risk of Accidents!
Prevent those incidents where a wayward cigarette starts a major house or brush fires,
where driving under the influence gets you an accident or jail time, when you are intoxicated and you say the wrong thing
at the wrong time to the wrong person, when children uncover your secret stash, and more.
Lower your premiums - Insurance companies all charge substantially higher rates for those that
have unhealthy lifestyle practices. You Can Save Money in more ways than one by making positive
lifestyle choices.
Improve Happiness In Your Home!
* Drugs and Alcohol are a leading factor in domestic violence! *
Bad lifestyle habits can be a major source of friction and problems in the home and an important factor
leading to family breakups.
Look and Feel Great!
Following good health rules will also give you a more handsome (or prettier) physique.
You will be less embarrased to be seen in public. You will gain increased
confidence in how you maintain and present your physical appearence. The vast majority of good looking people
you see in the media, had to work hard to look like that. Atheletes have to work hard to increase their strength level.
Great Results Do Not Come Overnight!
You need to be consistent by doing the right thing each and every day for life. Usually most people can recognise
a significant improvement after 12 weeks. Unfornutely, many people then quite and promptly lose those benefits.
Here I present three very simple health laws that will substantially improve your quality of life but billions of people ignore to their own detriment. They include basic Diet & Nutrition, Exercise and to Avoid Harmful Drugs.
Your quality of life increases in proportion to the amount of effort you put into taking good care of yourself. But is also decreases in proportion to how much you make bad lifestyle choices. For good or bad, you will be left with the consequences.
When you follow these three basic rules, I can promise you that not only will you be able to better enjoy
Great Life Adventures but that also you will have more time, energy and oppurtunity to increase how often you
can participate in them. Feel Good, Look Great, Be Successful and Be Happy.
Rule #1 - Good Diet & Nutrition
Eat three well-balanced meals each day, making sure that each of the basic food groups are represented. Each item has a different helping of essential vitamins, proteins and minerals.
Never Over-Eat - Don't be afraid to walk away from your plate when you feel yourself
getting full.
How to Succeed on Any Diet - Lot of people start a diet but then give up in
frustration after a short period, usually be cause they are missing their favorite dish or feel left out at a special
event. I follow the rule of six days on the diet and one day off. On your off day go ahead and have your favorite dish.
However, even then eat only in moderation.
Spare the Meat - Eat meat sparingly. Also note that fish and chicken are better for
you than red meat.
Good dietary practices can add many years to your life expectancy level.
A sloppy or poor diet will have the opposite effect.
Rule #2 - Exercise & Physical Fitness
Almost any diet is three times as successful when accompanied with a regular exercise program of about 30-60 minutes each day. I alternate daily between jogging and weightlifting.
Inactivity is a leading factor for both obesity and a lower immune response level. A number of studies have shown that people over-weight will have shorter lifespans.
In if you are one those individuals that spends over 10 hours per week of Your Free Time staring at a computer monitor
or TV screen, you fall into this category.
Rule #3 - Avoid Harmful Drugs
Some herbs, medicines and vitamins are good for you and older adults should take a daily health supplement. But more important, please avoid these harmful substances that are designed only to ruin your life. And what is worse is that they are addictive, once you start it is hard (but not impossible) to stop.
Tobacco - Leading cause of lung cancer, mouth cancer, emphesema, heart attacks and birth defects.
Alcohol - Leading cause of liver disease, birth defects, automobile accidents and domestic violence.
Illegal Drugs - All illegal drugs have a nasty range of terrible side effects. Duh, that's why they are illegal.
Caffeine Drinks - Caffeine is a contributing cause to heart attacks and other health problems.
Second Hand Smoke
Second-hand smoke (which is sometimes called environmental tobacco smoke or ETS) contains toxic substances, over 40 of which cause cancer.
Some of these substances are in stronger concentrations in second-hand smoke than they are in the smoke that goes directly into smokers’ lungs.
ETS is causally linked with a number of adverse health effects in children (under 18), including:
Many of the substances listed above contain chemical aggredients that develop addictive behaviour.
Over 99% of adults who smoke at least one cigarette per day claim that their first smoke was before their 19th birthday.
The other side of that statistic is the vast majority of our youth who successfully abstain from tobacco will not have to
struggle with this bad habit for the rest of their life. Another side of the picture is that by the age of 19, most people have
finally grasped the idea that tobacco is simply not good for you. The same statistics apply to the other drugs.
Protect Our Youth
The number one at-risk group is our youth (ages 10-21). Commercial and Illegal Enterprizes target their dangerous products particularly to this group in the hopes of finding some gullible enough to get hooked on their addictive product. This group is also at-risk to peer preasure that gives young people mixed signals to what is right and wrong and creates the temptation to experiment with the dangerous.
Statistics show that youth actively involved in positive character building programs are several times more likely to resist the temptation to dapple and to not become addicted. These programs create positive character self-esteem, teach healthy life choices, alternative activies and recreations, provide positive mentoring and create opportunities for positive peer group influences. Some examples of successful youth group programs include Scouting and church youth groups such as those with strong ties to one or more of the Resource Programs listed below.
In selecting a youth program or church that would be most beneficial to your children, we recommend weekly participation in one that emphasizes youth education for all three elements of - alcohol abuse, tobacco and illegal drugs. I want to include weblinks for all such quality programs in the Resource Programs listed below. Please Email Me if you know of additional resources beyond what I have listed below.
Warning Signs That Your Child is at Risk
As mentioned above - the age group 10-21 is at extreme risk to fall victim to addictive substance dependency.
Be especially alert for the following high risk warning signs which have shown to be a strong proven factor that
a child is much more likely to develop a lifelong addiction to tobacco, alcohol or other harmful drugs:
Youth Programs that Work
To strengthen the confidence of our youth to resist the temptations of dangerous substances, we recommend the following
range of programs. They all promote and increase confidence and self-esteem. They also exemplify that in order to
succeed in life you need to take the very best care of your physical body.
Parental Participation
Are parents the true anti-drug? They are when they support and participate in school and extra-curricular activities
alongside their youth. They are also effective when they create a homelife atmosphere that encourages their children
to bring their friends home for parties and activities. They are also effective by setting an example of how to
keep care of their physical bodies by support health, nutrition, exercise, and wholesome lifestyle choices.
