Known as "The Magic Isle", Maui is 48 miles long and 26 miles wide with a population of about 91,000. Maui County also includes the islands of Molokai and Lana'i which are both easily accessable in daytrips from Maui.

Maui is formed primarily by Haleakala Volcano in the east and the West Maui Mountains in the west. Its shallow waters are the winter home for the endangered humpback whales which arrive every October from the Bering Sea to give birth to their young. Second largest island of the Hawaiian Archipelago, it is covered with tropical rain forests, pineapple and sugarcane fields.

Popular island activities include sailing, surfing, snorkeling, sports-fishing and para-sailing. There are many historical sites and over 23,000 acres of pineapple plantations.

    Tour Haleakala National Park

    Est. 1916 to protect 28,655 acres of Maui Island. Most dominant feature is the dormant volcano Haleakala which last erupted in 1790. At 10,023 feet it is the tallest feature on the island. Its eerie landscape resembles the moon - cindercones rise 1,000 feet from the crater floor. Other features are the tropical rainforests and rugged coastal cliffs. Major astronomical research facilities are located near the top. Their are many trails here for hiking, camping and horseback riding. Its name means "the house of the sun".

    Tour Kapalua

    Its name means "Arms Embracing the Sea" - Kapalua is located on the northwest end of Maui. This master-planned resort community of luxury hotels and condos is surrounded by 23,000 acres of pineapple fields. The lava flow peninsula shelters five nd scenic bays.     Formerly a playground for Hawaiian Royalty, today Ka'anapali is a master planned resort community. It features over three miles of the best beachfront in Hawaii as well as two championship golf courses.

    Tour Molokini

    Molokini is a small islet located in the Alalakeiki Channel 3 miles west of Maui. It has been designated by the state as a Marine Life Conservation District. The actual size is 18.6 acres and rises only to a maximum elevation of 165 feet. This small crescent island is the result of a violent deep sea volcanic eruption many years ago that left a tuff cone on the ocean surface which has since faced continuous pounding by the ocean.

    A frequent destination for both tour boats and divers. Very popular because of its abundant marine life, calm waters and home to black coral.

    Tour Maalaea

    Small scenic village along the coastal drive to West Maui, Maalaea has some wonderful oceanfront restaurants and condos. Its harbor is a frequent tour boat destination.

    New in 1998 is the opening of the Maui Ocean Center. Visitors can walk an accryllic tunnel through their 600,000 gallon aquarium.
