An international celebration of the queen's ascension to the throne 60 years ago that coincides with her birthday. Only one other monarch in British history has served longer, Queen Victoria. All commonwealth countries will mark four-day holiday with lots of fanfare and festivities.

A large event will be staged in London to include the diamond jubilee concert, and a maritime parade with the largest flotilla to sail along the River Thames in over 350 years). Some one million people are expected to watch from the banks. Exciting street parties are also to take place across the country.

The oldest tennis tournament in the world (originating 1877), Wimbledon is considered by many to be the most prestigious. It has been held at the All England Club in Wimbledon, London since 1877. It is one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments.

The tournament takes place over two weeks in late June and early July, culminating with the Ladies' and Gentlemen's Singles Final, scheduled respectively for the second Saturday and Sunday. Each year, five major events are contested, as well as four junior events and three invitational events.
