Colorado's Ocean Journey

New attraction opened summer 1999 in the Central Platte River Valley just across from Elitch Gardens. This 17-acre aquarium complex was built at a cost of $93 million and is home to over 15,000 specimens of fish, mammals and birds. The displays hold a combined sum inexcess of one million gallons of water.
The facility is divided into five major exhibit themes:

Butterfly Pavilion
Butterfly zoo, gardens and insect center is home to over 1,200 butterflies.
Denver Museum of Natural History
Probably the best of its kind in the country and certainly one of the most popular attractions in Colorado. Many exhibits to enthrall both child and adult alike. Planetarium and IMAX theater.
Seven floor facility is the largest art museum in any of the Rocky Mountain states.

There is a big list of things for kids to do here. Play and story centers, sports shops, hands-on laboratories, mini-store, and more. Usually quite crowded due to its popularity.
The Black American West Museum and Heritage Center

Housed in the home of Colorado's first African-American female doctor, Justina L. Ford. This museum has many exhibits on the role of black americans in the exploration and settlement of the American West frontier.

Dedicated to Latin-American art, history and culture.
Colorado Railroad Museum
Many steam engines and railcars alongside historic museum.
Forney Transportation Museum
Exhibits include a wide variety of variety of vehicles from old steam locomotives to racing cars.
Denver Firefighters Museum

Old Station No. 1 (built 1909) has been transformed into a museum with exhibits of original firefighting equipment, vehiciles, uniforms and more. There are two 1920's antique fire engines on display.
Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys

Located inside the two-story Pearce-McAllister Cottage (built 1899) is this collection of everchanging displays of vintage dolls, dollhouses, toys and miniatures. Museum hosts special workshops on dollmaking and other toy making arts and crafts.
The Pearce-McAllister Cottage itself is a very noteworthy example of turn-of-the-century architecture. Admission includes both a tour of the cottage and the museum.
Mizel Museum of Judaica

Established in 1982, this facility has special programs, workshops, speakers, along with rotating exhibits from other Judaica museums.
Byers-Evans House and Denver Historical Museum

Built in 1883 by William Byers, second territorial governor of Colorado.
Molly Brown House Museum
1340 Pennsylvania St, Denver, CO; (303) 832-4092;
Having earned heroine status for her valiant actions during the sinking of the Titanic, she later became a flamboyant character of Denver. Was the inspiration for the Broadway musical The Unsinkable Molly Brown. Many special programs during the year, call for more info.
Wings Over The Rockies

Large aerospace museum located in Hangar 1 of the former Lowry Air Force Base. 20 historic aircraft are on display including giant bombers, modern fighter jets and helicopters. There is also a special Space Station Module.

Located halfway between Denver and Greeley along the Platte River is this reconstructed 1830's fur-trading post/museum. During the summer "mountain men" entertain visitors with feets of daring old western bravado.

Call for current schedule. Narrated tour of the scenic Platte River Valley and other points of interest departs daily from the Denver Children's Museum.
