Adams County, located in the northeast sector of the Greater Denver metropolitan area, is perhaps the most economically diverse region hosting agriculture, heavy industry, transportation and high-tech companies.

A portion of the county was recently ceded over to the new Denver International Airport. It is expected to provide a lot of economic opportunity to the immediate area.

60-acre aquatic park complex has many chutes, slides and pools for wet summertime fun. Highlights include:

• Large rubber raft ride
• Super watersled that plunges nearly straight down and then aquaplanes across the pool
• Journey to the Center of the Earth - ride through caves.

Just east of Commerce City is a large barren parcel of land designated "Rocky Mountain Arsenal". This 27-square mile restricted area was used for the manufacture and storage of chemical weapons during the height of the Cold War. Today it is a major Superfund site in the midst of a federal $1 billion cleanup. Because it is a restricted area, it has boomed (no pun attended) as a wildlife refuge where visitors regularly see eagles, elk and more.

Former toxic waste site is now overrun with wildlife. A free two-hour bus tour is available every Saturday morning to give you the chance to see eagles, hawks, deer, praire dogs and mules.

Riverside Cemetery
5201 Brighton Blvd, Commerce City, CO; (303) 293-2466;

Denver's oldest cemetery (founded in 1876) and final resting place for many promenent citizens and civil war veterans.

Butterfly Pavilion & Insect Center
