St. Vincent and the Grenadines (pop. 107,000) is multi-island nation consisting of a chain of 32 islands and cays located just north of Grenada. Only 8 are populated and none are heavily commercialized.

The capital is Kingstown located on St. Vincent, the largest island. English is the official language.

The center of activity is Kingstown, capital of this island nation. It is also the main inter-island seaport.

• St. George's Cathedral - built early 1800's.
• St. Mary's Catholic Cathedral - built 1823.
• St. Vincent's Botanical Gardens - Founded in 1763, making it the oldest botanical gardens in the New World.
• Fort Charlotte - British Fortress built 1806, with museum.
• La Soufriere - 4,000 ft volcano.
• Vermont Nature Trails - evergreen woods and tropical rain forest.
• Falls of Baleine - Waterfalls secluded on the NW tip of island.

The many uninhabited islands here serve as a sanctuary for birds and other local wildlife. They make for a fun sailing destination.

Points of interest are:

• Bequia - Largest of the Grenadines
• Mustique - Famous luxury vacation spot for royalty and celebrities. Only four square miles.
• Canouan - Popular stopping point.
• Tobago Cays - Four uninhabited islets are a National Marine Park. Horseshoe Reef is a popular dive spot.
