Southeast Arizona is home to many well-preserved ghost towns that reflect the wild west history of the state. The most famous of which is Tombstone known as "The Town Too Tough to Die".

Tour Mission San Xavier del Bac

Located five miles south of Tucson on the highway to the Mexican border is this structure dating back to 1778. This Catholic mission was built on the edge of the San Xavier Indian Reservation. Large congregations meet here on Sunday mornings.

Tour Tumcacori National Monument

Remains of a large mission church built around the year 1800. Excellent visitors center is located at the entrance and tells the story of the mission. Located fifty miles south of Tucson.

    Tour Nogales

    Seventy miles south of Tucson lies the twin border towns of Nogales, Arizona and Nogales, Mexico. Nogales is the largest of the Arizona-Mexico border towns. It is the best place to begin a one-day cross border excursion into Mexico.

    Tour Patagonia and Sonoita

    Located on Hwy-82, south of Tucson is the lush Sonoita Valley and gateway to the Coronado National Forest. Here the cattle-ranching town of Patagonia is home to the Sonoita Creek Bird Sanctuary. Home to a wide variety of birds including, warblers, finches, hawks, kestrels, woodpeckers and cardinals.

    Tour Tombstone

    Most legendary of all Western Ghost Towns, Tombstone gained its notariety at 2PM on October 26, 1881, Doc Holiday and the Earp Brothers gunned down the Clantons, a band of suspected cattle rustlers in the famous Gunfight at the OK Corral.

    Today much of the town, including the OK Corral is preserved as a National Historic Site. The best time to visit is during Helldorado Days in late October.
