| The largest city park in the United States, South Mountain Park in Phoenix, Arizona, has been designated as a Phoenix Point of Pride. The 16,300-acre park covers much of the Salt River Mountains along with a variety of native desert flora and fauna. Lookout point stands over 1000 feet above the desert floor. Park Trails: Beyond the roads leading to ramadas and the summit, the park features 58 miles (93 km) of trails for cycling, hiking and horseback riding. The landmark Mystery Castle is located within its foothills.

The Heard Scout Pueblo has a wide variety of program areas for you and your Scouts. Activities range from hiking to camping, COPE, swimming, rifle shooting and archery. The adobe style architecture of the entry way is reflected throughout the camp. Remote desert campsites are also available. This camp is named for Heard Family, publishers of the Arizona Republic, that donated the land and facilities in the early 1920s.
