Little Painted Desert County Park
Noted for striking hues of color, especially at sunset. Located on SR-87 just north of Winslow.
Homolovi Ruins State Park
A center of research for the late migration period of the Hopi from the 1200s to the late 1300s.
Where archaeologists study the sites and confer with the Hopi to unravel the history of Homolovi.
Arizona State Parks provides the opportunity for visitors to visit the sites and use park facilities
including a visitor center and museum, various trails and a campground. Several covered picnic tables
are located throughout the park. Pullouts provide the opportunity to observe wildlife in this park.
Meteor Crater
First Proven, best-preserved meteorite impact site on the planet.
Nearly 50,000, a meteor about nearly 150 feet in diameter hit the earth about 22 miles southwest of Winslow. The impact left this
crater about 500 feet deep, 4,150 feet in diameter and the crater rim stands 150 feet above the surrounding plateau.
