Meteor Crater
First Proven, best-preserved meteorite impact site on the planet.

Nearly 50,000, a meteor about nearly 150 feet in diameter hit the earth about 22 miles southwest of Winslow. The impact left this crater about 500 feet deep, 4,150 feet in diameter and the crater rim stands 150 feet above the surrounding plateau.

Local visitor center contains Museum of Astrology and Astronaut Hall of Fame. Guided trail tours of the rim are available. Facilities include RV Park, Interactive Learning Center, Astronomy Theater, Restuarant. Use exit 233 off I-40 freeway and head about 7 miles south.
