  Barrow also has the largest per capita bus system in the nation. Why? Fully 1/3 of its population use it daily because of the extremely prohibitive cost to ship a car and refined fuel up to this remote locale.

  While waiting for the bus however, one must be very vigilant for the Polar Bears that frequently wander around here. Sometimes there have been as many 30 at a time within a 3-mile radius.

  The temperature wind chill sometimes can hit 50 degrees below Fahrenheit, so bring warm clothing.
